from 83 reviewsGreat tent for fall white tails. I'm currently using this with my teenage son for weekend hunts away from all the crowds. It's kept us dry through a couple wet nights, lots of room for both of us. I should seam seal it but its kept us dry so far.
I have the optional floor but havent used it. If you use hiking poles just use a couple ski straps to lash them together and leave the center pole at home. Jim at 3 Ridges Gear suggested that and it works very well and saves weight.
Performs extremely well, setup and breakdown and designed very well and love the options for dampering the stove to allow for a long burn.
I used the Luxe Mini-Tarp for the for time this past week. It was typical Adirondack November canoe-camping weather: cold temps, wind, rain and snow showers. After the paddle in, I setup the Mini Peak XL, then the Winter Inner and finally the hot tent stove. Next was the tarp, which came with a sufficient number of aluminium stakes, reflective cord and cord locks. There was also a diagram on the plastic bag that contained these items; I trimmed it and packed it in stake bag to use as a reference. Using the Mini-Tarp video as a guide, I cut and attached each of the guy lines to the tarp. Then I draped the tarp over the tent, attached the rear guy lines and then the side lines. Next, I set-up and staked out the front support pole (adjusting the height as needed). Finally, I staked out the two front guy lines.
The tarp provides a good-sized area in front of the tent. When the tarp is attached to the tent, it was obvious that it was designed in such a way to not did not interfere with hot tent stove chimney. The way I had it staked out, it did not go all the way to the ground, however, I believe that it could go lower by adjusting the height of the front pole. I stored processed firewood and some gear under it, and still had an area to sit when the weather was inclement. Speaking of weather, during the trip, the tarp held up just fine during strong winds (30-35 mph gusts), rain and snow showers, so I am confident about using it when conditions are not ideal. Take-down was simple: I detached and took down the front pole first, then working front to back, disconnected each of guy lines. Overall, I completely pleased with every aspect of the tarp; it truly expands the "living area" of the tent. It is well-designed and reasonably priced. Using an adjustable front pole should provide options for how low the tarp can be pitched to the ground. I was also pleased with the customer service that 3 Ridges Gear provided - my order was processed and arrived quickly.
Unfortunately I haven't used it, I have only set it up in my yard. It appears to be of very good quality...seams, pegs, ties, material. I bought a winter inner which I need to reposition, since I had it too close to a side and the outer tent wall sagged on the inner. I am not an experienced camper, let alone cold weather camper, but have the ability to give it a fair trial and will respond ASAP.
We used this tarp on a two week elk hunting trip in the Colorado mountains. We rigged it over the back of our truck bed to sleep under and it held up and kept us dry through rain, hail, and 30-50 mile an hour winds.
So far so good. Had to watch YouTube videos how you assemble and understand the need to heat before use: puts out a lot of heat. Plan to really test out end of OCT in Colorado elk hunting. Great customer support!!
Set up tent three times. Got a good plan. Will only take two guys 15 min for tent and stove. Plenty of room for upcoming elk hunt!! Seem sealed outer portion of tent! No issues so far, thanks three ridges
I bought the Three ridges stove top replacement for Wild Wild West stove I have had for a few years now. I bought it off of eBay and after I got it I understood why they were selling it. Never really cared for how the www stove damper and spark arrester were designed. I was always a bit concerned that it may come apart in the middle of the night with a bit of wind.
I will say for the little bit of time I have used the Three Ridges replacement top and damper, it works like a dream and I feel way more comfortable with how it all connects. It also fit together even better than the original top for the www stove and the stove seemed to burn 2 times longer than the old style aloud it to. You can actually control the flow with the damper unlike the www damper. I think it is a must do upgrade if you have one of the www stoves. Super happy with Three Ridges and their service. I placed the order quite late at night and it shipped out the next morning. I will defiantly be doing more business with them in the future!!!
Thank you for the amazing service!
Super lightweight, easy to set up!
No problems setting up the tent and stove. Had the unit set up for a week and good test as it rained for 5 of the 7 days. Stove worked efficiently, very impressive heat production. Noted one abnormality on a door panel, contacted the company and a new tent was sent up immediately.
I set up the new tent and since we are still having a very rainy season was a good test for the unit. Performance was great. Now ready for our camping trip to remote location in Alaska.
I recently received the Megahorn XL 8 Person Shelter, and I'm impressed with its performance. Setting it up was a breeze and it offers plenty of space for a group of 6 to sleep comfortably. The spacious interior and sturdy construction make it a great choice for group camping trips. Highly recommend it for anyone needing a reliable, roomy shelter."
Great shelter. Little snug for 2 guys but easily enough room to get all our gear under cover for the night.
Haven't gotten a chance whating for the cold winter weather to get here so I can do some cold weather floating on the river but it looks like it's going to work out well
Haven't used it yet. Waiting to go on a cold old Indiana winter float trip. But it looks like it going to be great
